About

Francine Butson

After raising four children and beginning her working life as a bank teller, Francine later pursued her passion for understanding human behaviour through mature-age study. In 2013, she graduated with first-class honours from Curtin University, completing a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours. She went on to complete an internship and was registered as a General Psychologist for several years (2021-2026).

Francine’s professional journey has included a range of roles across education, community services, and mental health. She has worked as a school counsellor in both primary and secondary settings, supported children and families as an inclusion support officer, and assisted individuals facing long-term unemployment and disability within employment services. She later worked as a counsellor with Relationships Australia before establishing her own private practice.

In 2017, following the sudden loss of her husband, Francine experienced firsthand the profound impact of grief and trauma. This deeply personal experience led her to explore healing beyond traditional talk-based therapy, discovering the importance of mind–body approaches in supporting recovery, regulation, and reconnection.

Over time, Francine recognised a growing need to step away from the demands of clinical practice and the sole responsibility of holding space for complex therapeutic work. This shift has allowed her to realign with a more sustainable, holistic way of supporting others—one that honours both practitioner wellbeing and the diverse ways people heal.

Francine now offers a range of holistic mind–body services, including women’s circles, mindfulness meditation, and positive, growth-focused workshops. Her work is grounded in her extensive background in psychology, while embracing a broader, more integrative approach to wellbeing that supports self-care, connection, and personal healing.

Our approach

We recognise that each person processes their experiences differently. Some of us think things through, while others connect more easily with emotions. Some find insight through the body, while others respond to creative or reflective practices.

At Mind and Matters, our intention is to meet you where you are. At times, you may simply need a space to pause, reflect, and feel heard. At other times, you may be seeking gentle guidance, practical wellbeing tools, or opportunities for personal insight and growth.

Using knowledge of psychology, we provide a range of wellbeing, mindfulness, and mind–body practices. These may include guided reflection, meditation, body awareness, relaxation techniques, and strengths-based approaches that support self-awareness, emotional balance, and connection.

We provide a safe, respectful, and supportive space for self-care, personal exploration, and holistic wellbeing.

Please note: these services are not a substitute for psychological or medical treatment.
